overly excited for the american philsophical association conference in seattle this week. 4 solid days of philosophy, which for me will include an entire day of metaethics (!) and a morning on animal rights theory.

conferences are so stimulating because they make me feel like a participating member of the discipline, due to a significant portion of cutting edge professional philosophy happening during the q&a sessions after each paper. turns out socrates (not the dog) was right: good philosophical thinking is best served by dialogue, so simply being around other thinkers is always fruitful for my own work.

goals for the week:

1) take copious notes

2) sleep very little

3) gorge on vegan food

4) if he’s there, become best friends with tom regan.
